Near Grayscale is a series of monochrome paintings in shades of grey: [tecnica, es. oil and mixed media on canvas], made between 2024 and 2025.

Grey belongs to no one. It is not black, not white, not the absence of colour. It is what remains when everything loud has been taken away. An artist lives in a kind of solitude, and grey is the colour of that solitude: the one that speaks for those who have no voice.

In these grey paintings I give up colour to keep only feeling. The coldness of steel, the softness of ash, the depth of charcoal: each tone carries its own weight. Faces and shapes come apart and rebuild themselves, one stroke at a time.

From a distance the works look simple. Up close, texture, contrast and light do all the talking. A monochrome painting asks you to slow down, to stand still a little longer, to look at what is about to be forgotten.

Grey is not emptiness. It is possibility: the moment before anything becomes certain.
