Beginning / Belonging / Becoming

In this intimate triptych, Beginning / Belonging / Becoming, I created a delicate meditation on transformation, origin, and memory. Three embryonic figures suspended in translucent ovoid forms evoke a silent chronology of becoming: from the first breath of being to the quiet pulse of belonging, and finally to the unfolding of self.

The use of aluminium as a support introduces a subtle luminosity, as if the figures are held within a membrane of light. The textures are fragile, organic, almost archaeological, revealing layers of time and skin, inviting us to reflect on the boundaries between the physical and the metaphysical, the intimate and the universal.

This work is part of the group exhibition EMBRACE (July 18 – August 3, 2025), organized by Art that Matters during Pride Amsterdam and hosted at the historic Lutheran Church in Amsterdam. The exhibition explores themes of identity, acceptance, and human vulnerability. Within this context, Beginning / Belonging / Becoming resonates as a visual lullaby and an existential foundation where what is forming is not just a body, but a way of being in the world.

In questo trittico intimo, Beginning / Belonging / Becoming, ho dato forma a una meditazione sulla trasformazione, sull’origine e sulla memoria. Tre figure embrionali, sospese in forme ovoidali traslucide, tracciano una cronologia silenziosa del divenire: dal primo respiro dell’essere al battito sommesso dell’appartenenza, fino al dischiudersi del sé.

Nella pittura su alluminio il supporto metallico porta una luminosità sottile, come se le figure fossero custodite in una membrana di luce. Le superfici sono fragili, organiche, quasi archeologiche: lasciano affiorare strati di tempo e di pelle e invitano a riflettere sul confine tra fisico e metafisico, tra intimo e universale.

L’opera è stata esposta nella mostra collettiva di arte contemporanea EMBRACE (18 luglio – 3 agosto 2025), organizzata da Art that Matters durante il Pride Amsterdam nella storica Chiesa Luterana di Amsterdam. La mostra indagava i temi dell’identità, dell’accettazione e della vulnerabilità umana. In questo contesto, Beginning / Belonging / Becoming risuona come una ninna nanna visiva e un fondamento esistenziale, dove ciò che prende forma non è soltanto un corpo, ma un modo di stare al mondo.
